What defines the holding power of a shuttering magnet?
The holding power (e.g., 2100 kg or 4600 lbs) is determined by the size and grade of the integrated NdFeB permanent magnets, the design of the steel magnetic circuit housing, and the thickness and surface finish of the steel casting table. Oil residue, rust, or uneven surfaces on the table can reduce the effective holding force.
What is the difference between N52 and N52H NdFeB magnet grades?
Both grades offer a similar maximum energy product of about 52 MGOe. However, N52 magnets are typically rated for a maximum operating temperature of 80°C (176°F), while the "H" designation on N52H magnets indicates higher intrinsic coercivity, allowing them to operate reliably up to 120°C (248°F) without significant thermal demagnetization.
Why is NdFeB preferred over Ferrite or AlNiCo in modern precast shuttering magnets?
NdFeB (Neodymium) provides a much higher maximum energy product than ferrite or AlNiCo. This high flux density allows us to manufacture compact, manageable magnet boxes that deliver high holding forces (up to 2500 kg). Ferrite or AlNiCo magnets would require a much larger unit size and weight to achieve similar results.
How do you protect NdFeB magnet assemblies from corrosion?
Raw sintered neodymium is highly susceptible to oxidation. To address this, we apply robust surface treatments such as multi-layer Nickel-Copper-Nickel (Ni-Cu-Ni), Epoxy resin coatings, or Zinc plating. For shuttering magnets, we encase the magnetic core in a durable steel housing and seal the gaps with epoxy to prevent concrete paste ingress.
Can QCM customize magnets for specific high-temperature environments?
Yes. For applications operating at temperatures above 150°C, we design and manufacture custom Samarium-Cobalt (SmCo) assemblies or specialized high-coercivity NdFeB grades (UH, EH, AH series) that can withstand temperatures up to 350°C without permanent loss of magnetic performance.
