Each shuttering magnet is tested using a computerized hydraulic pull-testing machine. The magnet box is placed on a standard polished S235 steel plate (representing clean precast platform steel). A vertical tension force is applied until the magnet breaks contact. The peak force recorded (in kg or lbs) defines its rated vertical holding power.
With proper care (cleaning cement paste off the bottom contact surface, applying form release oil regularly, and avoiding direct sledgehammer impacts on the housing), a high-quality shuttering magnet box can withstand over 10,000 clamping cycles, translating to a service life of 5 to 15 years.
Neodymium magnets provide higher raw flux density at room temperature. However, they lose magnetic properties rapidly as temperatures exceed 80°C to 150°C. Samarium Cobalt magnets, though slightly less powerful at room temperature, maintain their magnetic output reliably up to 250°C - 350°C and display far superior corrosion resistance.
Carbon Steel has high magnetic permeability, which actively completes the magnetic circuit. This directs the magnetic flux downwards towards the steel bed plate, maximizing the holding force. Stainless steel (specifically Austenitic 304/316) is non-magnetic and would act as an insulator, significantly reducing the clamping force.
