Axial Magnetization: The magnetic poles are located on the flat circular surfaces (top and bottom faces of the ring). This is common for holding systems, magnetic couplings, and linear actuators.
Radial Magnetization: The magnetic poles are oriented around the circumference (either from the inner diameter outward, or vice-versa). Radial rings are essential for high-performance brushless permanent magnet motors (BLDC) and magnetic bearings because they offer a uniform magnetic field across the rotor surface. True radial sintering is technically complex and requires specialized multi-polar alignment tooling during the pressing phase.
Large rare earth rings are prone to warping and structural stress micro-cracks during the high-temperature sintering stage. To mitigate this, we employ near-net-shape molding techniques. Following sintering, we use precision CNC grinding machines and wire-cut EDM to machine the internal diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), and thickness. This process allows us to maintain tight tolerances down to ±0.05mm, which are verified via Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and laser micrometer arrays.
For applications experiencing operational heat (such as industrial drive shafts or downhole drilling equipment), we add dysprosium (Dy) and terbium (Tb) to NdFeB alloys. This increases their intrinsic coercivity (Hcj), enabling the material to resist demagnetization at temperatures up to 220°C (AH and EH classes). When operating temperatures exceed 250°C, we recommend Samarium Cobalt (SmCo) alloys, which remain stable up to 350°C without significant flux loss.
According to IATA regulations, magnetized materials must be shielded to prevent interference with aircraft navigation instruments.
