How do I determine the correct holding force for precast shuttering magnets?
The required pulling force depends on the height and material of the formwork, as well as the concrete pouring method. For small precast elements and timber formwork up to 100mm high, a 600kg to 900kg magnet is typically sufficient. For larger panels, automated formwork structures, and heights up to 250mm, we recommend using 1800kg to 2100kg magnetic systems to withstand the high lateral forces exerted during concrete vibration.
What is the difference between carbon steel and stainless steel housings for magnetic systems?
Carbon steel housings (like Q235) offer excellent magnetic permeability and cost efficiency, and are treated with black oxide or zinc coatings to resist wear. Stainless steel housings (AISI 304) provide superior corrosion resistance and protection against rusting, concrete adhesion, and chemical washdowns. Stainless steel is highly recommended for hot, humid casting yards and automated wash lines.
Can neodymium precast concrete magnets be used on timber formwork beds?
No. Permanent shuttering magnets require a ferromagnetic base plate (such as steel casting beds or tables) to establish a magnetic circuit. If you are using timber casting tables, you will need to install steel plates where the magnets will be positioned, or use traditional mechanical fasteners.
What is the expected lifespan of a precast shuttering magnet, and how is it maintained?

Maintenance involves keeping the bottom contact surface clean and free of concrete paste, slag, or rust, which can create air gaps and reduce holding force.
